About Me

Mimi Winder began quiltmaking in 1976 during the quilt revival of the bicentennial. Incorporating traditional and non-traditional quiltmaking techniques, she uses a wide variety of fabrics to give her quilts texture, color and interest. In additon to her studio work, she lectures and teaches quiltmaking. Mimi is a faculty member of the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Her classes range from basic quiltmaking to studio classes which explore color and design in more depth. Her teaching style encourages students to develop their individual creativity.

She was raised in NJ and attended college at the New England Conservatory of Music where she majored in violin. She worked for many years as a computer systems analyst, before retiring to parenthood. She currently divides her time between studio quiltmaking, teaching, and homemaking. She lives in Lee, NH with her husband, 3 children and various pets.

Her work has been shown and won awards at the San Diego Quilt Show, Vermont Quilt Festival, Cocheco Quilt Show, (Dover, NH) New Hampshire Institute of Art and most recently at Images.
